Can anyone help me identify this chip!?!

Hey guys! - been trying to find out what chip this is for ages....my hunch tells me its an aladin chip...and no it doesnt say aladin on it but looking at this from xbox-scene

it appears to look very similar esp the wiring.... this xbox basically stopped working properly, its now in black and white. I believe one or two of the wires have snapped off...including the switch to enable / disable...this was my old xbox and ok i guess i neglected it a little...but would love to fix it but in order to do that i need to figure out what chip it is...and then get some info on it.

ANY help would be most appreciated...these are the best pix i could take... i hope someone out there knows what this spaghetti junction of a chip is!!

Ok man, I've no idea of what chip that is, but one thing is sure, you should go and buy yourself a new one, that's my suggest... Do you know how to solder a chip?

Thats a homebrew chip. Constructed by a sst flash-circuit soldered to the LPC port. It works just as a normal LPC modchip, it holds an external bios. You really don't have to upgrade to another modchip. Could you tell me the moddel numbers on the flash-circuit?

I think you should re-wire this flash-circuit. That would say if you think you have what it takes.... :D Don't worry, it's not that hard. Och rejjo, känner du inte igen ett gammalt "cheapmod"? :D

För helv*te nej, det är bara något år sen jag gav mig in i den då än så länge okända xbox-världen. Då fanns ju redan Aladdin och smartxx och duo-x2 och allt det där, så jag har aldrig hålt på med cheapmod/softmodd eller liknande. Som jag ser det är det ändå bättre att skaffa ett riktigt chip :p :D

Jag var inte heller med riktigt ifrån början, men man har ju sett en och annan nostalgi-bild på nätet.... Så jag har aldrig heller hållt på med sånt här "cheapmod"-ande... Själv så skulle jag ha haft tag på ett kultigt 29-wire mod, helst enigmah, dels för kultets skull, men också för att fixa pajjade TSOP's. Jag vet inte hur många pers som bett mig fixa deras TSOP, och ända lösningen var ju då att sätta i ett chip...

hela installationen såg ut som kattskit,, fast det lär ju ha fungerat ett tag :p

Ja, den såg inget vidare ut.... En orange skrikapa ifrån bangladesh skulle kunna göra ett bättre lödjobb. För att inte nämna kabeldragningen...

As stated above, remove all the wires, clean up on the motherboard if nescessary(spelling? :D), and resolder the "chip" to the motherboard. You have diagrams on the install-points in the previous links..... And, an advice, try to make the install more "keen" than before, and avoid long un-isolated cables, just for your own good.

Isn't it both better and easyer to go buy a real chip if you're going to solder anyway? :p

Waste of money since he has allready got a "chip". Though it might be worth getting a new one, if he gets a SmartXX, etc, because of the intergrated OS...

Ingen egentligen... En cheapmod består ju av en minneskrets med ett hack-bios inflashat, som lödes till LPC-porten. Känns det igen på nån annan mod? :D På ett modchip så finns det en minneskrets som det är ett hack-bios inflashat på, som sedan går via banorna till pinheadern, som lödes i LPC-porten. Skillnaderna:
Storlek på minneskrets
lite extra diodrar, lysdiodrar, kontrollerchip
ett kretskort

Båda moddarna bygger på samma princip....

Detta chippet var ju riktigt fult. Blixten du sa ju waste of money. Köper han ett DuoX 2 så kostar det ju 19$ ungefär så de e ju lungt för honom att fixa det eftersom han kan löda och att det är billigt.

Men han har ju redan ett fungerande chip.... Att köpa ett nytt chip bidrar ju inte till nåt, förutom att skövla extra regnskog... :D Iaf inte om han köper ett Duox2 eftersom det har ju samma funktion som detta chip (förutom att den kan hålla 2 biosar). Däremot om han köper ett chip med ett inbyggt OS, så kan det ju vara värt det, enligt MIN åsikt....
