I Solved my Messenger CPU problems!
I have had problems with 50% CPU (100% of one of the kernels) usage on the SYSTEM process since upgrading to MSN Live Messenger 8.1
This is what i did:
(My MSN is swedish, i will try to guess the correct english names on the options)
1: Remove all SHARED FOLDERS
Changed options:
2: General, below "Login" uncheck Shos Windows Live Today when logging in
3: General, below "Show my contacts", uncheck Show pictures of others
(I really think #3 did the trick...)
4: Messenges, i disabled ALL checkboxes for emoticons, vibes, write by hand etc
5: Notifications and sounds, i disabled ALL checkboxes and ALL sounds
6: Shared folders, i unchecked "Use shared folders instead of sending onte file at a time"
7: Tabs, i selected Hide Tabs
8: Privacy, i unchecked "Show notification when other users add me to their contact list"
9: Security, I unchecked everything except "Allow links in chat window"
...and just because i was happy for a minute now, my CPU went back on 50% for the SYSTEM process. Well, back to the drawing board.
I will now try patches to remove the ADS, in case the ADS are causing problems.
After that, I will go back to 8.0.0812.
Any other tips ARE APPRECIATED!!!
