Guitar Hero: Metallica (XBOX360)
This information has been compiled to give justification that the nuke for Guitar_Hero_Metallica_RF_USA_XBOX360-NiG is valid and that NiG have repacked the newsgroup/p2p release.
For the purpose of this I am going to assume that all timezones are the same (PDT), meaning that any time related inaccuraces can only out by a maximum of 2 hours for the possibilities that the activity originated from another US timezone.
1) First lets compare both releases by CRC
dg-ghm vs nig-ghm
XEX CRC A7C93B87 ----- A7C93B87
SS CRC F42FC023 ----- F42FC023
RawSS 65A3E7A2 ----- 65A3E7A2
DMI CRC 8F9D303A ----- 8F9D303A
PFI CRC 2A4CCBD3 ----- 2A4CCBD3
Video CRC 0E58FB9D ----- 0E58FB9D
Game CRC FB7AF1A0 ----- 88AA53C8
As you can see above, the RawSS are the same.
Therefore this should mean all other parts of the game should match.
But the Game CRC are not identical!!
An xbox 360 game ripped an infinite number of times on the same PC will NEVER have the same SS twice, therefore it is impossible that NiG and newsgroup rip is a different rip.
2) NiG admit in their proof NFO that they acquired the game from the same source, yet in the same NFO they contradict themselves by claiming to have ripped the game themselves. If they really had of ripped the game themselves the SS would be different to that of the newsgroup release (FACT).
3) The newsgroup release was uploaded over a 31 hour period
Starting at 21-Mar 6:00pm (approx)
Finished at 23-Mar 1:00am (approx)
NiG pred at 23-Mar 8:03pm, which happens to be
- 50 hours after newsgroup started uploading
- 19 hours after newsgroup finished uploading
Therefore, newsgroup uploader had game packed at least 50 hours before NiG pred their repack
4) The date modified of iso in newsgroup rars is 21-Mar 5:42pm
If the timezone is assumed correcly, this would give the uploader approx 1 hour to compress the iso into rars and begin uploading to newsgroups at 21-Mar 6:00pm
5) The date modified of iso in NiG rars is 23-Mar 12:49pm
If the timezone is assumed correctly, this would give NiG approx 5 hours to download and repack the newsgroup release, then pre it 11 hours later.
The modified time of the NiG ISO is 2 days AFTER newsgroups release modified time.
In the 19 hours that the newsgroup release finished posting, NiG could quite easily of obtained a retail copy of the game, and used this box/disc image to claim the rip as their own. Showing proof of having a copy of the retail game does not proove that you ripped the disc yourself.
6) Going back to the information about the Game CRC mentioned in 1) above.
As the RawSS is identical, every other part of the ISO should be identical, except in this instance, the Game Data CRC of both releases do not match!
newsgroups = FB7AF1A0
NiG = 88AA53C8
The most likely (although not the only possible) cause that NiG's game CRC differs from that of the newsgroups is because of bad RAM or bad HDD which caused corruption of the game data when the ISO was extracted from the newsgroup release.
The differing sections of the game data CRC are:
00E020BF5D: 16 17 003760242525:
01051BCE1D: 36 37 004380675613: 6 7
0131CE1C9D: 36 76 005130558621: 6 v
These sections relate to filenames from the game as follows:
/data/music/demoncleaner_3.fsb.xen
/data/music/noleafclover_3.fsb.xen
/data/compressed/zones/z_tushino.pak.xen
When we replaced the files in the NiG release, with the files from the newsgroup release, the Game data CRC of both releases then matched up.
So, based on all the evidence and the dates/times and order of everything taking place, it is only a common sence conclusion that NiGs release is a corrupt repack of the newsgroup release.
