it's a Dashboard patch, so it'll be automaticly done everytime you start the console... and unless the software you are running has any other settings for it it'll be no max at all times...
another way to get constant 100% fanspeed is to buy a XCM High Speed Air Cooler V2... and set it to manual mode and full speed... that way it'll constantly be on max power, since these fans don't draw power from the "normal" fan place the console settings will have no effect on it... (it draws power from the DVD drive instead)

Yes the fan is mounted above both the CPU and GPU blowing air inwards/down. I did reverese the polarity and had it sucking air out but it wasnt as affective.
Tomorrow I will cut the case and mount the fan, and also add in a small fan to blow some air towards the CPU heatsink and see if that helps the movement even more.
Once its all completed I will upload the pics and temp.
let's hope the end result is a good the only problem that you should have with the console after this cooling mode might be the RAM chips which are below the GPU heatsink, and maybe the ones on the under side of the motherboard... the GPU RAM's tend to break easily... that's what happend to my JTAG machine, i had it running at a max temperture of 45 degree's for CPU/GPU/RAM it didn't help having special small square like thingy's that transfer heat from the RAM below the motherboard to the case itself it broke anyways! and i cannot fix it without pretty much removing the RAM chips and reballing/replacing them, and i'm pretty sure they'll break again soon ennuf if i do that so i won't bother, i'll just buy a new console... (i had a RROD-Fixed Falcon) thinking about buying a Jasper machine, or maybe a Falcon machine which has never had RROD before...

I'm checking around many places, if you find a 360 with a 20gb HDD it's JTAGAble for sure... if you find consoles that are cheaper then others (or in a limited supply) they are most likely old ennuf consoles to JTAG... there are plenty of stores out there that have these, it's up to you to find one, when ever pplz find a shop that have these older consoles they tend to be gone within a couple of hours/days... so it's pretty hard to tell you where to look i'm afraid
your best bet of finding one is to e-mail random stores and ask them to check... tell them you are looking for a specific date, don't tell them what date tho, and don't tell them it's because you want to hack it, tell them it's because they are special if they ask... other then that you can run around in shops and check some random boxes...

I'm sorry, but i am not that into electronics so i can't tell you how it breaks... but from what i've heard it's mainly that something loses contact, like with the GPU/CPU that some of the soldering points let go of the motherboard...

Ok a little update to this heat issue I had.
I decided to dismantle the xbox after the xclamps had been removed by you guys and look at the heatsinks. I had been reading of problems with the quality and the lack of polished heatsinks that M$ provides with the 360. A lot of people had done mods of removing the heatsinks and lapping them (sanding down) and shinning them to improve heat transfer. Then adding artic silver thermal paste properly to improve things further.
So I began doing all that, and I found both the CPU and GPU heatsinks to be in bad condition due to M$, and also they were not FLAT. As I began sanding some parts would be shinny and others stayed dull, obviously meaning there were slight dips/pits in the heatsink. So anyway I fixed all this. Put the thermal compound on etc.
Then I added mini heatsinks to the Memory chips and any chips exposed, got these from Kjell and company.
Finally I bought and installed the Whisper Legacy fan to replace the stock rear fans, and whilst I was at it removed the the plastic grate and metal grate that covers the stock fans, as this restricts air flow.
Finally I put all this stuff together turned on the box and thankfully it all worked Then I checked the temp, now the CPU is at 57, GPU 38. Which I think its pretty good. I dont think I can improve on this, not without replacing the heasinks with some decent ones.
But from 80 degrees to 57 is good in my book and atleast now I dont think the xbox will die on me.
