EDIT: This is outdated
If you have SUPERDISC2.ISO or later, just use the www.PSXCARE.com menu.
Choose Install Evo-X (SMALL Drive) or Install Evo-X (LARGE Drive) depending on if you have replaced your hard disc or not.
=================
This is a step-by-step guide on how to install Evolution-X Dashboard (Remote-X) version 1.8.2594
using the SUPERDISC ISO (superdisc.rar).
You do not need a network connection for this to work.
You need to get SUPERDISC.RAR with SUPERDISC.ISO from 2002-09-17 or later. You can use an
earlier release, only difference is that there is only one version of EVOX.INI instead of one optimized
for original drives and one for large drives.
You also need a modified XBOX, and some way of burning superdisc.iso.
1: Use winrar (http://www.winrar.com) to open superdisc.rar and extract superdisc.iso
2: Use your favorite burning software to burn superdisc.iso to CD-RW / DVD-R / DVD-RW / DVD+R /
DVD+RW. Dont bother trying CD-R discs, they almost never work in any xbox.
3: Boot your XBOX with your disc.
4: Choose "boXplorer" in the menu and press A (green)
5: Scroll down and select "XBOXDASH.XBE", press X (blue) to mark XBOXDASH.XBE
6: Press the small WHITE button on the controller
7: Select "Copy..." and press A
8: Hold both trigger buttons and press the start button.
You will se a screen about "successfully copied..."
Now you have a backup copy of XBOXDASH.XBE from C:\ stored on E:\. Better safe than sorry...
9: Press the BACK button
10: Press the right trigger, which will select screen "B" (you should see the letter "B" on the top right
corner of your tv)
11: Press the WHITE button
12: Choose "Select Drive..." and press A
13: Choose "D:\......." and press A
14: Scroll down to the subdirectory "evox ini file suitable for c partition" and press A to navigate into
that directory
15: Select "original drive with apps on E" or "large drive with apps on F" depending on if you have
replaced your original hard disc or not. Press A to navigate into the directory of your choice.
16: Select "Evox.ini" and press X to mark it.
17. Press the WHITE button
18: Select "Copy..." and press A
19: Hold both trigger buttons and press the start button.
You will se a screen about "successfully copied..."
Now you have copied a working EVOX.INI, which is the configuration file for Evolution-X, to your hard
disc.
20: Press the BACK button
21: Select XBOXDASH.XBE and press X to mark it.
21: Select MSXBOXDASH.XBE and press X to mark it.
22: Select the directory [Bios] and press X to mark it.
23: Select the directory [Skin] and press X to mark it.
24. Press the WHITE button
25: Select "Copy..." and press A
26: Hold both trigger buttons and press the start button.
You will se a screen about "successfully copied..."
Now you have copied the Evolution-X dashboard (XBOXDASH.XBE) to your hard disc.
You have also copied a region-patched version of the original dashboard as MSXBOXDASH.XBE to
your hard disc. Please note that this is taken from an European XBOX and might not work in an US
version. I do not know. If you have problems with it, you have to rename the XBOXDASH.XBE we
copied to E:\ in steps 5 to 8 to MSXBOXDASH.XBE and copy it to C:\ instead.
27: Press the BACK button
28: Press the left trigger, which will select screen "A" (you should see the letter "A" on the top right
corner of your tv)
29: Press the WHITE button
30: Choose "Select Drive..." and press A
31: Choose "E:\......." and press A if you have the original hard disc in your xbox. Choose "F:\......." and
press A if you have installed and formatted a larger hard disc in your xbox.
32: Press the right trigger, which will select screen "B" (you should see the letter "B" on the top right
corner of your tv)
33: Select the directory [Apps] and press X to mark it.
34: Select the directory [Games] and press X to mark it.
35: Select the directory [PC Stuff] and press X to mark it.
36. Press the WHITE button
37: Select "Copy..." and press A
38: Hold both trigger buttons and press the start button.
You will se a screen about "successfully copied..."
Now you have copied the following to your e: or f: partition: a nice collection of tools ([Apps]) such as a
great bios flasher, file copying tools, region free dvd player etc. You have also a little game ([Games]).
In [PC Stuff] you have some apps you might want to copy to your PC via FTP. They can not be used on
the XBOX.
Remove the disc and restart your XBOX.
Now Evolution-X should be installed....
